16. Chinese New Year Celebration: the Year of the Rooster

Tonight was our family dinner at Ming’s Restaurant on Taraval.  We had our red envelopes ready to give one dollar bills to children, and oranges and goodies for the adults šŸŠ.  Pam is the year of the tiger and Mat is the year of the rooster, zodiac signs in the Chinese calendar. Their new baby will be a rooster, too!

We were a group of 15, and the dinner had over 25 different entrees, from bok choy soup, Peking duck in steamed buns, clay pot rock cod with tofu, green onion pancakes, mu shu, ox tail, and  lemon cake and orange slices for dessert. With lots and lots of tea!  Everyone greeted with gong hei fat choy– ” happy new year!”
